Joe Root and Harry Brook give hope in England after Mohammed Siraj Let-Off

Joe Root and Harry Brook kept England hunting for a record pursuit in their serial decision -maker against India while the fifth test of Rothesay was moving towards an end of the day.

Chasing a huge 374 to take the Anderson-Tendulkar 3-1 trophy, the hosts reached lunch at 164 for three with their first two feathers in the fold.

Ben Duckett and Captain Stand-In Ollie Pope left while India was piercing towards the square of the 2-2 series, but a 23 generally reliable not from the root and an undefeated counterattack 38 of Brook left things in the balance.

Brook struck four four and two in 30 balls before the break, but was almost caught by Mohammed Siraj, who kept a fine leg skier before passing over the borderline.

Siraj had entered the momentum with the last act on Saturday evening, Bowling Zak Crawley with a clinical yorker, and quickly caused more problems in Duckett.

He transformed his night 34 into a fourth half-century of the series but has never really settled in 40 difficult minutes. He was beaten eight times, ahead of three deliveries and missing five others.

Siraj was responsible for most of his troubles, but it was Prasidh Krishna who obtained the awards, coming to the pavilion and hitting luck with his fourth ball while Duckett launched the kitchen sink during a trip.

After having seen England not claiming six captures in the third round, KL Rahul showed them how it was done with a solid rock socket at the end.

Krishna, filling considerable boots from Jasprit Bumrah, desperately was close to pining him LBW Root for only three, but saw his huge attraction rejected. Follow -up of the ball has shown that it was cut the stump, but not enough to overthrow the decision.

After an hour of play, England had scratched 37 points, briefly accelerating while Pope struck three to four in an overtaking of Krishna, including one elegant.

But it was the end of a cameo rather than the beginning of something more substantial, Siraj loading and nailing it in front of the strains.

At 106 for three, India had taken control, but Brook’s arrival brought a screaming speed change. He opted for total assault, at one point, launching 27 points in eight bullets.

This included a crunch through midwickket and a sumptuous six covered Akash deeply before his almost high leg, risking his counter but picking up six others for his efforts. Siraj looked mortified by realizing that he had overbounded, English fans reveling in his anxiety. Krishna, on the other hand, had to quietly put the celebrations he had already started to play.
