Hundreds come together while a new event starts with beauty

A newly introduced trails attracted more than 200 participants.

The Hillfort Hustle, organized by Croft Ambrey Running Club, took place on Sunday July 20, presenting the runners with two main options: a course of five miles or 10 miles around Croft Ambrey Hillfort.

The two routes offered panoramic views and aimed to offer a unique experience but accessible to local runners.

The event, based in Aymestrey, also included a race of 2 km junior fun, which saw the participation of more than 20 young runners.

Despite the planned rain showers, the race continued successfully, participants from Tewkesbury, The Black Country and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

In the 10 -mile race, Gareth Leek from Croft Ambrey Running Club obtained first place, Ryan Newton and Simon Cartwright taking the second and third respectively.

Mia Davies, also from Croft, was the first woman to cross the line, finishing 20th in the general classification.

Croft’s Sky Blue team won the first and second in the team category, with Wye Valley Runners and Tewkesbury Running Club after.

The five -mile race saw a victory for Archie Melvin, with Mark Simpson and Oliver Reicht from Tewkesbury Running Club ending the second and third.

Amy Smith and Kate Watts of Hereford Couriers were the first and second women.

Hereford Couriers and Tewkesbury Running Club won the team’s results, Croft obtaining the second and third places.

In the junior pleasure race, Charlie Coleman of Hereford Athletics won the victory, with the Seb Martin de Croft in second position.

Saffi Reid finished third in the general and first woman classification.
