Darlington Girl, 13, makes history after winning the golf club championship

A 13 -year -old girl marked the story after being crowned the youngest champion of the Dames club in a Darlington golf course.

Nixie Corcoran, a junior member of the Blackwell Grange Golf Club, obtained the title of the Champion of Ladies’ Club 2025 after two impressive laps during the weekend of the championship.

Aaron Cox, PGA assistant professional at Blackwell Grange and the Nixie coach, said: “It’s a proud moment not only for Nixie and his family but for the whole club.

“She is an incredibly talented player, but also behaves with maturity and composure far beyond her years.

“She has a great future to come.”

Led by two shots after the first round, Nixie held his nerve during a dramatic confrontation of the last day against the former champion Anne Wraith.

The pair ended the level after 36 holes, forcing a playoff series in front of a crowd in front of a crowd of members and supporters.

The two players delivered strong T-shirt shots, but the regular peer of Nixie won the title.

Ms. Wraith, who won the Ladies Scratch trophy during the day, made her young opponent warm.

She said: “Nixie played superbly and deserved victory.

“It’s wonderful to see the next generation of talents go to Blackwell.”

In his post-round speech, Nixie expressed his gratitude to the club, his family and his coach.

She said: “It means so much time to save here.

“Thanks to Anne for a large part of Golf, and now being the ladies’ champion is incredible.”

A spokesperson for the club said: “The realization highlights the strength of the Blackwell Grange junior program and the club’s commitment to develop young talents, while honoring its traditions and its community spirit.”

Meanwhile, four other club juniors are currently participating in the world championship championship 2025 in the Lough Erne Resort in Ireland.

Among the 250 junior champions of more than 40 countries are Ethan Jeff, captain of the junior club, Lilah Underdown, Charles Calvert and Louis Brett.
